Ava Lowell and Rachel Rosenberg Garner CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors


ITHACA, NY – Graduate student Rachel Rosenberg of the Ithaca College women’s lacrosse team and graduate student Ava Lowell from the women’s swimming and diving program has won the 2022 At-Large Academic Honors from the Colleges Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as the organization announced Thursday afternoon.

Both were first-team selections and are one of 11 student-athletes in District 3, which encompasses New York State. Unlike the more sport-specific categories, the At-Large Women’s Program includes athletes from 14 different sports: Beach Volleyball, Bowling, Crew, Fencing, Field Hockey, Golf, Gymnastics, Ice Hockey, Lacrosse, Rifle , skiing, swimming, tennis and water. polo. To be nominated for academic honors from all districts, student-athletes must maintain a GPA greater than 3.30 and achieve a sophomore athletic and academic level in school.

This is the second consecutive year that Rachel Rosenberg was elected to the All-District team as she already graduated from Ithaca with her bachelor’s degree in television-radio and is currently pursuing her MBA in entertainment and media management. Rosenberg maintained a 3.78 GPA and continued to prove his acumen both on the court and in the classroom. The defender put together arguably her most complete season to date, earning honors from the IWLCA All-Empire Region First Team, USA Second Team (USA Magazine), Liberty First Team League and Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year.

Rosenberg started in all 21 games of the recently completed 2022 season which saw the Bombers make an appearance in the NCAA Third Round where they finished with a 17-4 overall record. She had 84 draw checks, 48 ​​ground balls and 37 upsets. Rosenberg also set a career-best points tally (10) with three goals and seven assists.

Ava Lowell completed his undergraduate studies with a GPA of 3.67 as a physical therapy major and currently holds a graduate GPA of 3.87. She had her best season yet being named Liberty League Diver of the Year and helped the Bombers win their third straight Liberty League championship. She qualified for the national championships where she became the second national champion by winning the 3 meter diving competition with a final score of 486.45.

Lowell concludes her career with six All-American honors as she also finished third on the 1-yard boards with a final score of 443.95 at the 2022 NCAA Division III National Championships.
