The BBC 2021 Women’s Footballer of the Year shortlist has been revealed – and you can now vote for your winner.

The five candidates for the BBC World Service honor were chosen by a panel of experts, including coaches, players, administrators and journalists.

The nominees are:

  • Caroline Graham Hansen – Norway and Barcelona
  • Sam kerr – Australia and Chelsea
  • Ashley Laurent – Canada and Paris St-Germain
  • Vivianne Miedema – Netherlands and Arsenal
  • Alexia Putellas – Spain and Barcelona

Voting closes at 09:00 GMT on Monday 8 November and the prize winner will be announced on Monday 29 November on BBC World Service and on the BBC Sport website.

Caroline Graham Hansen

Club: Barcelona Position: Winger

Barcelona winger Caroline Graham Hansen shone on the club and international stage in the 2020-21 season, winning the quadruple with Barca and qualifying for the Women’s Euro.

The 26-year-old Norwegian was Norway’s top scorer in the Euro qualifiers, scoring 10 times at the top of Group C. She was also part of their World Cup qualifiers, in which they are so far. now undefeated.

Graham Hansen has won the Spanish Championship, the Women’s Champions League, the Spanish Cup and the Spanish Super Cup. Her impressive contributions have seen her named to the Champions League Team of the Season and nominated for the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year award.

Sam kerr

BBC Footballer of the Year 2021: Profile of Sam Kerr

Age: 28 Country: Australia Caps: 102

Club: Chelsea Position: Cheeky

Chelsea striker Sam Kerr lived up to expectations for the Women’s Super League in the 2020-21 season and continued his good international form for the Matildas in another impressive campaign.

Nationally, she won the WSL Golden Boot with 21 goals, which sealed the Blues title. Additionally, she won the Community Shield and the Continental League Cup last season with Chelsea.

Internationally, the 28-year-old captained Australia at the Olympics, scoring six goals and helping her country to finish fourth.

Ashley Laurent

BBC Footballer of the Year 2021: Profile of Ashley Lawrence

Age: 26 Country: Canada Caps: 101

Club: Paris Saint Germain Position: Defender

Paris St-Germain full-back Ashley Lawrence is so adept with the ball that she occasionally plays in midfield, with some fans calling her to play up front. She has greatly contributed to the achievements of her club and her country during the 2020-21 season.

She helped PSG end Lyon’s reign in the French league of 14 consecutive titles as the Paris side finished the league season unbeaten.

And internationally, Lawrence has played in every Olympic game for Canada as he won gold in Tokyo.

Vivianne Miedema

BBC footballer of the year 2021: profile of Vivianne Miedema

Age: 25 Country: Netherlands Caps: 103

Club: Arsenal Position: Striker

Arsenal forward Vivianne Miedema was a WSL star heading into the 2020-21 season, but she cemented her place in league history by breaking Nikita Parris’ scoring record. She also helped the Gunners qualify for the Champions League.

She represented the Netherlands at the Tokyo Olympics and although the United States beat them in the quarter-finals, Miedema broke the record for most goals scored in a single Games with 10 in four matches.

She was nominated for the WSL Player of the Season and the Fifa Women’s Best Award.

Alexia Putellas

Age: 27 Country: Spain Caps: 91

Club: Barcelona Position: Midfielder

Alexia Putellas made a clean sweep in the 2020-21 season by winning the quadruple with Barcelona and numerous personal accolades.

The Spanish team comfortably beat Chelsea in the Champions League final, won the Spanish league by 25 points and won the Spanish Cup and the Spanish Super Cup.

Putellas’ performances have earned her the UEFA Player of the Year and Champions League Midfielder of the Season awards.
