Pahalgam: A fishing competition was held in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday to promote adventure sports and activities.
The competition was organized by the Kashmiri Fishermen’s Federation (KAF) in collaboration with the Department of Tourism and Fisheries.
Fazlul Haseeb (Kashmir Tourism Director) said ANI, “Kashmir Valley, also known as Angler’s Paradise and Trout Valley, is famous all over the world, which can attract a large number of international angling enthusiasts from different parts of the world. I think in the case of adventure sports, angling has always been a traditional part of Kashmiris. Through this event we are supported by the Department of Fisheries and it is wonderful to see so many anglers from different parts of the country, including local anglers, showing up to help us ensure that the line is an adventure sport.
Adventure seekers cherished the initiative.
“The Kashmir valley has huge potential for angling and in the past hundreds of fishermen have visited the valley for angling and these activities have always helped to promote adventure sports and tourism . I say it is a very dangerous drug but it has no side effects. This competition is a very good milestone for both locals and visitors,” Mohamad Yousuf, a fisherman, told ANI.
