Judson Rockets football loses 44-0 win over East Central due to ineligible player

The Judson Rockets college football team will lose their 44-0 victory over East Central last Friday night after it was discovered that an ineligible player appeared in the game.

This was confirmed Tuesday evening in a statement to KSAT 12 Sports from Nicole Taguinod, communications manager for the Judson Independent School District.

“We can confirm that the Judson HS (V) football team will lose their win against East Central in last Friday night’s game,” Taguinod wrote. “The Judson HS coaching staff immediately reported to UIL once they were advised that a student who had participated in the game was ineligible to play due to their grades. We are taking steps to ensure that improved processes are in place to prevent this situation from happening again.

Instead of being 3-3 and 1-0 in the district, the Rockets fall to 2-4 and 0-1.

The incident is frustrating for first-year head coach Mark Soto, who has returned to his alma mater to try to get Judson back to the playoffs.
