Chelsea are said to have ‘tracked’ PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare ahead of the summer transfer window amid links with Leicester City.
Reports last month claimed City were ‘preparing’ a move for the £30m-rated midfielder who featured in both legs of the Europa Conference League quarter-final. The Sun have claimed City are considering a move for the player when the summer transfer window opens. “Discussions” reportedly “took place” when the city registered its interest.
However, it now looks like City could face competition for the player this summer with The mirror reporting that Sangare is one of several defensive midfielders ‘under consideration’ by the Blues as they move on from a potential move to West Ham’s Declan Rice.

Sangare has played a total of 48 times in all competitions this season, and at 6ft 3in, he would fit the profile of player Brendan Rodgers might want to bring in this summer. The City manager hinted that the summer window will be used to help the team’s woes this season.
PSV would not be willing to walk away from their £30million asking price if they cashed in. He is also seen as a potential target for Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.
City and Chelsea are expected to have a busy summer, with the report adding that Thomas Tuchel is planning a ‘summer overhaul’ at Stamford Bridge. City boss Brendan Rodgers has been open about the need for a summer ‘refresh’ at the club with up to five or six new signings.
