Gary Lineker nails response to James Maddison England snub
Gary Lineker agrees with fellow Leicester City fans after Gareth Southgate passed on James Maddison in his last England squad.
Maddison enjoyed his best campaign since joining the Foxes in 2018, winning City’s Player of the Year at the end-of-season awards last Monday and playing a pivotal role in securing them an eighth place in the Premier League. League.
The 25-year-old has scored 18 goals and provided 12 assists in all competitions this campaign after struggling to make an impact on Brendan Rodgers’ side in the early months of the campaign – his first league goal not arriving until October.
Following the team’s announcement, Lineker praised the Foxes fullback, while agreeing with a fan comment about Maddison. He tweeted: “I’m thrilled for James Justin and Jarrod Bowen for their well deserved calls.”
In response to the former England striker, City fan Matt Sibson asked what the attacking midfielder needs to do to make the squad. Lineker simply answered with one word – “indeed” – as Maddison now has to wait until the international break in September for a chance to put themselves in the Qatar World Cup.
