Celtic are fighting to land Liam Scales after English Premier League clubs have joined in the hunt for the defender.
And Shamrock Rovers boss Stephen Bradley has confirmed that the Parkhead club are not the only club to officially place an offer for the talented 22-year-old.
Ange Postecoglou has already done a double swoop this week, landing Joe Hart and Irish international James McCarthy.
Celtic were willing to shell out costs of around £ 700,000 for Scales, but a bidding war could still erupt.
Scales is under contract until the end of 2022 and Shamrock Rovers boss Bradley said today: âI know there is a lot of interest and it has been for some time.
âThere is a lot of serious interest from the English Premier League and Scotland. We rang a number of managers.
And asked if these clubs have acted in their best interests, Bradley replied, âYes. Offers have been made.
“The board has trusted our judgment in signing players on longer contracts and that means you can take a stand when the teams arrive.”
But Bradley is confident Scales – who were close to joining Bristol Rovers before signing for Rovers early last season – will remain focused in the meantime.
He said: âWe’ve never had a problem with Liam and he’s really calm and takes things without hesitation and thinks about things.
âHe makes clear decisions and has good people around him. With Liam, it’s pretty straightforward and there is no management.
âWe have to assess each option and avenue and determine what is best for the club in the first place.
“It is also very important that you are open and honest with the player and his representatives and that you make the best decision for everyone.”
