McMaster football team adds 2 women to coaching staff – Hamilton


the McMaster University football team has named two women to its coaching staff.

Taylor MacIntyre and Amanda Ruller join the team as assistant coaches under the direction of head coach Stefan Ptaszek.

MacIntyre was a receiver and alternate quarterback at Parkside Collegiate Institute in St. Thomas, Ont., And was the first girl to play on the men’s soccer team.

“McMaster Football recognized a gender gap in OUA football coaching and saw an opportunity to develop their program in a different way,” said MacIntyre. “I look forward to learning from some of the best coaches in Canada and joining an organization that clearly values ​​diversity.

Ruller is a former Regina weightlifter who specializes in strength and conditioning.

“My focus on power and speed in the weight room will ensure these athletes are successful during their playing season and will help them stay healthy,” said Ruller. “My experience in Olympic weightlifting competition is also a great bonus for teaching these skills in the weight room. I hope to pass on my knowledge and make our athletes work hard for a winning season.
