Ramos was also considering a move to Manchester City, Bayern Munich and another unknown Premier League club, but he ultimately decided to join Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in Paris. It is also believed that one of the England teams offered a better salary than PSG but Sergio Ramos decided to snub them.
The Spain international, who was excluded from Luis Enrique’s squad for Euro 2020, spent 16 years at the Bernabeu and will likely become one of the greatest defenders to ever play for the club. During that span, Ramos made 469 appearances and scored 72 goals while winning five La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies. His contract finally expired this summer with Los Blancos.
PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino is a longtime Sergio Ramos fan and he will undoubtedly bring experience and leadership to an already strong backline at Parc des Princes. The signing comes on top of what has already been a relatively busy summer for the French stars, having signed former Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum on a free transfer.
It will be strange to see Sergio Ramos in another jersey. But, his impact will be strongly felt in Paris as they seek to reclaim the Ligue 1 title and make another run to Champions League glory after missing the last two seasons.
