Huddersfield Giants vs. Wakefield Trinity

Where to look

Sky Sports Arena, 1 p.m. Sunday

Best bet

Wakefield
2pt 7-5 Betfair, Paddy Power

Match preview

Day two of Magic Weekend begins with an all-Yorkshire affair between Huddersfield and a resurgent Wakefield team.

Both teams are posting identical records this season with the Giants over Trinity on points difference alone.

That could change at St James’ Park, however, with Wakey expected to claim a fourth win in five and continue a strong end to the season.

Wakefield has beaten Warrington, Leeds and Hull KR in their late season push and won six of their last eight meetings with the Giants.

Huddersfield has shown signs of recovering under Ian Watson this season, but overall they flattered to cheat and it is questionable if they should be the favorites for Sunday’s curtain-raiser given the form of the two sides.

Wigan Warriors vs. Warrington Wolves

Where to look

Sky Sports Arena, 3:15 p.m. Sunday

Best bet

Warrington -8
1pt Evs bet365

Match preview

Sunday’s main event pits fierce rivals Wigan and Warrington against each other.

Wigan stopped an alarming slide at Castleford last weekend, flipping the form at The Jungle to register their first win over a top-eight team since mid-April.

Ahead of the surprise 22-0 win, the Warriors seemed devoid of confidence or ideas to demoralize home losses to St Helens and Leeds – failing to score a try in either.

Magic’s opponents aren’t much tougher than Warrington, who has beaten Wigan by 26 and 13 points in their two Super League meetings this season.

Steve Price’s Wolves travel to Newcastle after a home loss to champions Saints, ending their hopes of a top-two and home semi-final in the playoffs.

But despite the loss, there were encouraging signs for Price to take and they can at least consolidate their hold on third place with a win over their fourth opponents.

Warrington is asked to give up eight points on handicap, which should be well within reach for a Wolves side who are once again welcoming former Wigan winger Josh Charnley and half-back Blake Austin to their squad.

Leigh Centurions vs. Hull Kingston Rovers

Where to look

Sky Sports Arena, 5:30 p.m. Sunday

Best bet

Leigh +16
1pt 20-21 Betfred

Match preview

Leigh’s victory over Salford a few weeks ago turned out to be a false dawn with the basement boys put firmly in their place by St Helens and the Catalans since.

Magic’s opponents, the Hull Kingston Rovers, aren’t of the same ilk as this pair, but they need to win to keep their playoff dreams alive and will be highly motivated at St James’ Park.

After a stellar campaign, the Rovers hit the pads last month, losing for the third time in a row at Huddersfield last week and slipping out of the playoff spots.

With top six rivals Hull and Leeds face to face and Castleford facing a potentially tricky mission with Salford, the Rovers know they have a golden opportunity to rekindle their playoff claims against a side that have lost 18 of their 19s. league matches this quarter.

That said, Leigh has been more competitive throughout the season and pushed Rovers a month ago with the East Hull team edging the Centurions by just six points. They could fight at Newcastle armed with a 16 point handicap pad.
