What is the latest news regarding Martinez?

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), United have asked for ‘first-hand information’ on Martinez, who is valued at £87million by the CIES Football Observatory.

The Manchester squad could soon be on the hunt for a new striker, and it looks like the 108-goal Argentina is a player they have on their shortlist.

Reports suggest that Cristiano Ronaldo could leave Old Trafford in Januarywhile Marcus Rashford is in the last year out of his contract, so Erik ten Hag may very well need to sign a No.9 next year.

Martinez was in stunning form for Inter last season, scoring 21 goals in 35 Serie A appearances. Given that, it’s no surprise to learn that United are now eyeing the 25-year-old.

What did Jones say about Martinez and United?

Jones told GIVEMESPORT that English football certainly appeals to Martinez. However, the journalist has doubts about a move to Old Trafford.

Speaking to GMS, he said: “I just don’t think Lautaro Martinez is what they are looking for as a centre-forward. I know for a fact he would love to play in England, but I just don’t know if United are the right place for him. him to do that.”

Will United be able to sign Martinez in January?

If United want to buy Martinez, they will probably have to wait until next summer to land him.

Inter are unlikely to sell one of their best players midway through the season. It also looks like they will really need the Argentina international this season, with Simone Inzaghi’s side. facing battle to secure Champions League football.

They have other forward options like Romelu Lukaku and Edin Dzeko. However, the former only joined the club on loan and had to deal with an injury problemwhile the latter is now 36 years old.

When you consider that, Inter are going to be reluctant to part ways with Martinez, especially in a January transfer window that leaves little time to find a suitable replacement.
