MEMPHIS, TN – The University of Memphis football team lost to the No. 25/25/25, 35-28 ranked UCF Knights at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium on Saturday in Memphis, Tennessee. The one-possession loss is the Tigers’ third this season (4-5, 2-4 American Athletic Conference).
Strategist Seth Henigan completed 26 of 39 passes for 284 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions, while rushing for a team-high 69 yards with a score. Both Brandon Thomas and jevyon ducker had rushing touchdowns for Memphis, while Joseph Scates landed a 14-yard touchdown pass against the Knights (7-2, 4-1 AAC).
linebacker Xavier “Zay” Cullens had a game-high 13 tackles for the Tigers with a sack and 1.5 tackles for the loss. Geoffrey Cantin-Arku had nine stops, while the two Quindell Johnson and Sylvonta Olivier had eight each.
Trailing 21-14 at halftime, Memphis tied the game at 21-21 in the third quarter on Ducker’s 1-yard touchdown with 6:53 left in the frame.
